Services Australia uses your family income estimate to work out family assistance including Child Care Subsidy.

High income claim rule

Services Australia says you can still claim CCS if your family income estimate is $535,279 or more; entitlement is balanced later if income is lower.

3 Day Guarantee

From 5 January 2026, all CCS eligible families can get at least 72 hours of subsidised child care each fortnight, also described as 3 days per week.

Hourly rate cap

CCS generally applies to the lower of the hourly rate cap or the fee charged by your child care service.

Frequently asked questions

Is CCS a cash payment?

Usually it is a childcare fee reduction rather than cash paid directly to you.

Does income affect CCS?

Yes. Services Australia says your CCS percentage depends on your family income.

Does childcare type matter?

Yes. The type of approved child care and the child’s age can affect the rate cap.

Is this official?

No. It is an estimate only and not a Services Australia decision.
